StormSeal have been designing and building conservatories for 25 years and in recent years we have extended our bespoke service to include orangeries.
For those wanting a little more than a conservatory an orangery is the ideal solution.
Orangeries were once no more than a luxury outbuilding with the sole purpose of growing oranges, exotic trees and plants during winter months. This has translated into modern times and with exotic fruits becoming widely available, orangeries are now used for many applications such as kitchens, extensions, dining room or just extra living space which can be used for relaxing, reading or holding functions.
Orangeries have everything that a conservatory can offer but on an even grandeur scale. Stormseal believe that orangeries provide an aesthetic beauty that no other form or home extension can even get close to.
Orangery designs are wonderfully light and airy spaces due to the large glazed roofs as well as being cosy and inviting all year round.
You can collaborate and join in the design process with Stormseal as it gives you the opportunity to stamp your own mark on its final appearance. No matter how intricate or
detailed the design you have in mind. We have the expertise and the capability to build your vision and make your dreams come true.

Planning
Stormseal will take care of all necessary Planning Permission & Building Regulations for the installation of your Orangery with your local authority however here is a summary of the basic facts
In order to remain exempt from Planning Permission, Orangeries must adhere to the following principles:
- At least half of the new wall and three quarters of the roof is either glazed or translucent material.
- They are built at ground level and are less than 30 square metres in floor area.
- The conservatory is separated from the house by external quality door(s).
- Glazing and any fixed electrical installations comply with the applicable building regulation requirements.
While permitted development rights now allow for the construction of many Orangeries without Planning Permission you may have to limit their size and material construction if you want to avoid Building Regulations. If a conservatory you are building does not meet any of the above four rules then it will have to adhere to Building Regulations in full.
